Optimization of a housing construction by the method of Finite Elements
Safety of relevant components and structures is crucial, and its failing unaffordable. Highest levels of reliability are required in many fields. Therefore, a detailed assessment of the life cycle of a product is indispensable.

Fatigue testing of components with a high frequency pulsator
The existing state of the art structural mechanics laboratory is one of the largest in Switzerland. Flexible test facilities offer a wide variety of experiments with multiaxial loads under controlled environmental conditions to determine strain, stress, durability, and fatigue limit.

A common procedure is to analyse the existing cycling load, design a representative specimen, install the experimental setup and perform the experiments.

Tests, fields of activity and experiences
We also offer standard experiments, like tensile tests, compression tests, adhesion tests and rotating bending tests. The Structural Mechanics group has extensive experience in strain gauge measurement technique for measuring the loading of machines and plants in situ. We have equipped ship engines with several hundreds of strain gauges and measured strain during operation.
