Fluid technology – world-class solutions to your flow problems
The R&D cluster Fluid Technology at Sulzer Innotec offers consulting and expertise in computational fluid dynamics, fluid dynamics based product optimization (including experimental empirical validation), grid generation (CFD + FEM) and visualization. Read more
Consulting and Support
Design of fluid technology components for new products, further development of existing ones, and solutions of flow problems for machines, components and plant.
Experimental technology and model tests
Flow measurements on experimental models and test rigs to obtain experimental databases for calculation and CFD validation. For these purposes, we have access to conventional measuring methods as well as modern, non-intrusive optical methods such as Laser-Doppler Anemometry (LDA), Phase-Doppler Analysis (PDA), visualisation with Laser-light sections, Particle-Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Ultrasonic Doppler Anemometry (USDA).
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Calculation of laminar and turbulent flows with modern numerical simulation processes which are based on the time-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The programs we use for the simulations are STAR-CD, CFX4, CFX5, FLOW3D and CFX-TASCflow. ICEM and UNIGRAPHICS are used for data preparation and grid generation. Various programs are in use for postprocessing.
