Materials and Failure Analysis
What do we do?
The Materials and Failure analysis group has over 40 years experience in providing failure analyses, materials characterisation (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites and coatings), water analyses and microbiological assays. We provide support and consulting for our customers in materials related issues, including selection and design of coatings and overlays, corrosion prevention, design of components, processing quality control, etc. We also provide professional training seminars and problem-focussed courses.

The SWA Team

On top of our academic qualifications, most team members have been able to gather many years industrial experience in the focal areas of our activities. The challenges encountered are multi-faceted, requiring the application of modern analytical equipment and a depth of understanding that only such highly qualified professionals can provide.

Regular professional training allows our team members to maintain a highly relevant knowledge of the state-of-the-art. Our customers profit from the range of ability provided by experienced, long serving team members and highly qualified, young and dynamic engineers.

We are accredited according to ISO/SEC 17025 with accredition No. STS013

We are an accredited service provider with ISO 9001/14001 certification.

Rapid and efficient response

Our internal processes are simple and we are able to respond quickly and efficiently to our customers' needs. As a rule, simple materials characterisation or routine analyses can be conducted within 1 - 2 working days; complicated failure analyses are completed within 2 – 3 weeks.

SWA - your competent partner in case of damage, failure analysis and prevention, materials, material analysis, corrosion protection, corrosion testing, water analyses, microbiological assessement, polymers and polymer characterization, metallography and asbestos analysis
